Tour Program

This is a daily tour which covers new sightseeings around Bafa Lake Nature Park. There's so much worth seeing and more than enough to discover in a day. We start to collect our group at 8:30am and aim to depart from Akbuk-Didim to Bafa Lake. After 45minutes we will arrive at Kapıkırı Village and go to Athena Temple, though there's not much left that remains, just 3 walls. But you will notice the difference of the type of stone bricks that were used and is said to be around 2000 yrs old. Then we'll make our way to the restaurant just a short distance from Athena Temple in Kapıkırı where you will enjoy the Traditional Turkish Open-Buffet Village Breakfast. Then after the delicious breakfast, we will walk a little to visit the ruins of a castle.

Afterwards, we will walk down to the lake where you will see the remains of an old Monastery on a small island just a short distance from the shore and can walk around, take photos, sit for a while and enjoy the peacefulness while watching the wildlife. You will most likely see cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, cats and dogs while you are on walk-about. Another thing you will most definitely see are the village women who make jewellery, bracelets, scarves and more by hand, for souvenirs for the tourists to buy that visit Bafa Lake.

During the trip you will see the antic relics of Heraklia on the small islands. Bafa Lake was once a gulf of the Aegean Sea, until the classical period, when the sea passage was gradually closed by the alluvial mass brought by the Büyük Menderes River. The gulf, and later the lake, was named Latmos in antiquity. Being separated from the sea, some would say it it has warmer water.
You can take a rest and sit in the cafe for a drink and something to eat if you wish. Then after enjoying a great day out it will be time to return to Didim.
